Damnoni is a coastal settlement of the Community of Mariou of the Municipality of Agios Vassiliou, in the Regional Unit of Rethymno, Crete. According to the 2011 census it has 11 inhabitants. It is 35 kilometers from Rethymnon and 5 kilometers east of Plakias.
Damnoni has a long sandy beach which is located in a cove. The beach is about 600 meters long and is largely organized, especially its western end, and gathers a large number of tourists. There is also a small port. In the past, when the road network was not developed, it served the commercial needs of the area. The offices and warehouses of the port are still preserved today, which have been converted into rooms for rent. At the western end of the beach, the small river Kotsari flows out. To the east is Ammoudi beach.
Damnoni was recognized as an independent settlement in 1991, when it was annexed to the community of Mario in the province of Agios Vassiliou. With the Kapodistrias program he joined the municipality of Foinikos and with the Kallikratis program in the municipality of Agios Vassiliou.
